In recent years, reinforced concrete slab of a highway bridge is
reported deteriorated by the salt damage. Above all, it is difficult to determine the
extent of the slab deterioration due to salt penetration from the asphalt concrete
pavement top surface. The slab deterioration will be classified as follows,
(1) Delamination of asphalt concrete pavement and RC slab.
(2) Initiation of horizontal crack in the position RC slabs upper reinforcement by
the early reinforcement corrosion.
(3) Weakening of cover concrete in the position RC slab upper reinforcement by
the progress of reinforcement corrosion.
By the difference of such deterioration, since the repair method used is difficult,
it is important to investigate the degree of deterioration.
In this paper, we focus on impact acoustics method is a relatively simple nondestructive testing. Impact acoustics method has been estimated using the formula defect estimation for concrete targets. Therefore, it was necessary to set the
estimation formula for asphalt concrete paved. In the experiment, using the RC slab
test specimens were laying the asphalt, was evaluated for estimation formula.
Estimated using the formula obtained from the experiment was conducted to
estimate the deterioration of RC slabs in real structures.
